Silverage Comic Cover Flash vs Advertisements Sonics
"Advertising is legalized lying."-H. G. Wells
Cover Flash: The front page eye grabber of THE FLASH
Advertising Sonic: The commercial character that'll make you scream SEGA
In the world of business, you need to not just be better than the competition, but LOOK better, while running through your day to day, companies need something eye catching, you don't want that boring Marvel comic, look here's Superman having his friends thirst to death, and no you don't want that stinky Nintendo, look at Sega's blast processing. These two are great examples, not exactly telling the exact truth to insane proportions, so once we're done, will you be going to the comic shop and grabbing some Flash comics, or will you be screaming "SEGA" and getting a shiny new Genesis? Let's find out in a DEATHBATTLE...blog.
Before we Begin...
Alright so this is kinda vague stuff, so we should probably set some ground rules. For Flash we'll only be using the comic covers themselves that are in the Silver Age, and while scaling him to other characters is okay, only their covers are taken into account, so if in a comic cover he punches Superman, he can be scaled to any feats Superman can perform in his own Silver Age comic covers. For Sonic we'll mostly focus on stuff that has Sonic be a normal rendition of Sonic, so no ads that use say, the Paramount movies. And just like Flash, obviously we aren't using the actual games, this is just the advertisement.
Background
Cover Flash
A book needs a cover, and covers are for judging. He seems to have went through a similar incident as Barry did in the actual comics; some kind of chemical spill, but he also was a hero for hire for a time. He's gotten arrested and killed multiple times, he's been loved and he's been hated. He had a sidekick in Kid Flash, and even joined the Justice League. Truly a life of huge ups and extreme downs.
Ad Sonic
He's fast and blue. What more needs to be said? Well, he is also famous, so popular his games can be used in bombings, he's went to countless kids and entertained them, and in ads eggman is far from his worst foe, with people like H.A.G. hating on his awesome games, and Mario's stupid face.
Cover Flash
With all his adventures, he has plenty of experience with many things, and has fought a plethora of foes, he could figure out he's a puppet, could go toe to toe with Golden Age Flash, and has gotten out of all kinds of traps. Although he's occasionally not very smart, he'll commonly not notice very obvious things, such as his body changing.
Ad Sonic
Sonic has had many adventures, especially when it comes to racing; beating the Honey Nut Cheerio bee. He could beat Sonic 2 in record breaking time, even just playing Sonic can make you extremely skilled. And he has a really good soup.
Cover Flash
The Book
Flash has a book that rather morbidly informs him of how he'll die, and judging by the length it also describes the process leading up to it.
Gun
He used a gun to assassinate the most important man in America, and no, we do not know who it is.

Sega Consoles
Sega Consoles are where the Blue Blur resides, they usually allow sonic to amplify his natural abilities, like his abilities to take fiction to reality, and reality into fiction, or the Sega infection, which both will be powers gone over more in-depth in the abilities section. The Sega CD is implied to be the earth, and Sega can also be absorbed in pasta form
Baseball Bat
Space Ship
Sonic can drive around in this very fast space ship, with weapons strong enough to blow up the Death Egg.
Abilities
Ad Flash
Time Travel
A classic Flash ability, with him being able to alter his past, running fast enough to time travel, and even punch people into the future.
Duplication and Afterimages
Flash can create afterimages which somehow act as physical entities, as shown above, as well as being able to split into three.
Plot and Metafictional Stuff
Flash's existence can be in a quantum state of fiction or fact, which can be decided by the reader. He can grab his own comics, pull people into what seems to be the real world, exit his fiction, and even has a potential form of immortality, as he will only live if you don't skip on reading a specific comic.

Sega Infection
While not having a official name, this is an ability Sonic and Sega as a whole has shown consistently. With this, Sonic can give you powers and make you love Sega as well as Sonic, it also lets sonic control your body such as forcing you to run, and commonly it'll make you scream Sega so hard your eyes will roll over and bulge, or if your voice is coming out of a radio, it will make the device crumble. Now, how you can be infected with this is what really makes it devious; obviously playing Sega games can infect you, but also even just hearing about Sega can infect you, and Sega is in the ground, along with just looking at Sonic or even being around someone else infected will transfer the effect. Sega is also known to cause you to actually physically be blown away and pass out from how good it is.
Plot and Metafictional Stuff
Sonic has shown the capability to leave the television boxart, and basically anything he's in to go to the real world, and even when he leaves fiction, he can leave another Sonic still in said fiction he left, and even if the game is over he just goes to McDonald's, meaning that in the realm of fiction, he may be incapable of permanent dying, as he'll just respawn in real life. He's also shown to send things from fiction into reality and reality into fiction. Along with that, he's shown a great control of the plot, being able to change what you're watching to Sega, or destroying what you're watching and replacing it with Sega
Transmutation
As seen in the above, Sonic can transform objects to other objects, such as one Sega console into another.
Time Travel
He could run to the future, creating the Sonic CD remake/re-release, and could move fast enough to speed through all his games.
Resistances
Flash
Extreme Temperatures: Flash has survived being lit on fire and blasted by ice, even both at the same time.
Feats
Cover Flash
Strength
- Killed a dude with a weird energy fist
- Broke his own title
- Comparable to cover Wonder Woman, who toppled buildings
- Comparable to cover Superman who:
Speed
- Consistently called the fastest man alive
- Leaves afterimages by running
- Travels through time with speed
- Dodges lasers
- Killed a guy purely with speed
- Says he can beat three people up in one second before he gets blasted to atoms
- Ran fast enough to stop a nuke from dropping
- Outran lightning bolts
- Spun his arms fast enough to stop a flood
- Circled the world eight times in one second
- Comparable to other heroes who can:
Durability
- Could take getting both set ablaze and frozen
- Can take hits from those comparable to him
- Lived through a collection of traps
- Has generally been put through the ringer
Strength
Speed
Durability
- Comparable to Eggman, who's survived explosions
- Tanked explosions
- Should be relative to his attack potency
Weaknesses
Cover Flash
Flash isss...kind of a fraud, he's got his ass kicked plenty of times. He also doesn't seem to be that mentally well, with fits of trying to kill people, randomly crying when finding out his death, and generally kinda being oblivious to stuff. Also if you skip this comic he will just die which kinda sucks for him. There's also this weird mystery man who controls his life, which would probably explain all the times Flash has died.
Ad Sonic
People have resisted Sonic's Sega infection which requires Sonic to use some other powers, or his other powerful minions, and he has alot of feats that aren't that calculateable, meaning his exact tier is up in the air.
Stats
Flash is pretty impressive, he's comparable to Wonder Woman and Supes, who've sunk war ships and toppled buildings, putting Flash solidly in the building ranges. For comparison, Sonic is certainly stronger, with his ship getting to moon or planet level, although his physicals are lower, his feats from surviving big explosions and the bombings, he should match or surpass the Scarlet Speedster, and potentially getting even higher with stuff like moving the device he's in. Both have speed that can't exactly be calculated, like running through time and running out of fiction, and with calculateable feats they both can surpass light speeds.
Equipment/Abilities
Both have some weird metafictional stuff, as the two can take one out of fiction, and seemingly put them back in. Flash's afterimages and duplication could let him help overwhelm Sonic but at the same time, Sonic can leave another sonic in fiction while going to real life. Both can time travel so that's generally mute. Both do have potential forms of immortality, but the level of potency differs, as to get through Sonic's, Flash must kill Sonic in real life, which is generally possible, now Sonic to get past Flash needs to stop the reader from reading the comic, which he surprisingly could, as he's shown to be able to change what people are watching and reading. While Flash's fiction and fact thing certainly is powerful, Sonic can bring fiction to reality and vice versa, meaning its a tug of war match of fictionlizing and undoing. But here's where Sonic gets his lead: the Sega infection means as soon as Flash sees Sonic, he'll love Sega, and Sonic will be able to control his body, meaning Sonic can leave Flash a sitting duck, while Sonic does any of his potential win cons.
Tertiary Factors
Neither exactly have much to go off of intelligence-wise, they've both had many adventures and are generally equal in terms of smarts, though Sonic certainly has a better win record.
Conclusion
Cover Flash
- More solidy immeasurable
- Can counter many of Sonic's abilities
Disadvantages:
- Weaker
- Sega infection fucks him up
- Immortality gets countered
Ad Sonic
- Stronger
- Sega infection
- Counters mang of Flash's abilities
- Better plot manipulation
Disadvantages:
- Good bit of abilities get countered
This was certainly fun, both had alot of weird stuff, but with better strength, more plot bullshit, and SEGA! Flash died another time leaving the winner as...
